In the Dark – a new adventure in sound for Adelaide

August 14 2012

A group of Adelaide radio producers think it’s time to rediscover the lost art of listening. The South Australian Radio Collective is presenting Adelaide’s inaugural In the Dark …a night of creative soundscapes, features and documentaries for your listening pleasure.

In the Dark sessions started in the UK and have been running in Sydney and Melbourne for over a year. SARC coordinators Chris Brunner and Carly Nason say our first In the Dark will be a chance for people to experience something completely new in Adelaide.

“We’re calling it The Lost Art of Listening,” says Chris. “It will feature award winning Australian and International radio documentaries and pieces that are quirky, engaging and sometimes confronting.”

“We’re looking forward to taking people on an audio journey with us – radio is such a great medium for letting the imagination fly.”

Chris got inspired to set up an Adelaide chapter of In the Dark when he met Melbourne Radio Producer and Walkley Award winner Colm McNaughton.

“Colm was so passionate about the power of the listening experience and how so many people love radio, but don’t often get the chance to listen together.”
